| SERVERS AND CRUCIFER | ||
All our Servers feel privileged to undertake this ministry. Servers work in pairs and carry the candles in procession to the Sanctuary[1]. When the bread and wine have been brought to the altar in the Offertory[2] procession, one Server then assists the Priest to prepare the altar for the Eucharist, and helps to 'tidy up' afterwards. They are also responsible for washing the silverware after the service and ensuring it is safely locked away. The Crucifer carries the cross at the head of the procession at the beginning and end of each major service. He or she is also on hand to pass an urgent message or get anything the priest requires, as well as ringing the church bell as the bread and wine is consecrated. Pamela Matthews is our Head Server and Fr John and Kathleen Damant share the training of new recruits. Any interested adults please speak to Fr John. |

Terminology: [1] Sanctuary: the area at the east end of the church around the altar. [2] Offertory: bringing the bread and wine (and collection) and offering them from the people to God. |
